Marginalia by Folio
Each card below represents a folio of the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili where marginal annotations have been documented in James Russell's PhD thesis. Folios are identified by their signature—a bibliographic notation combining a quire letter, leaf number, and side (r for recto, v for verso). For example, b6v is the verso of the sixth leaf in quire b.
Folios tagged Alch. contain annotations by one of two identified alchemist readers: Hand B in the British Library copy (a follower of d'Espagnet's mercury-centered framework) or Hand E in the Buffalo copy (a follower of pseudo-Geber's sulphur and Sol/Luna emphasis).
132 annotated folios from 2 manuscript copies.
