Aurora Consurgens ALCHEMICAL
cited in 6 emblems
The Aurora Consurgens is a late medieval alchemical text attributed (probably falsely) to Thomas Aquinas, remarkable for its systematic fusion of Solomonic wisdom literature with alchemical symbolism through a Christological lens. De Jong (1969) shows that Maier accesses this text indirectly through the Rosarium Philosophorum, which transmits its sapiential-Christological reading of alchemy into the dense scriptural apparatus of Emblems XXVI and XXVII. These emblems, positioned at the structural midpoint of Atalanta Fugiens, draw on the Aurora's identification of alchemical Wisdom with the biblical Sapientia of Proverbs.
