Thesis 24.18
Latin
Sicut paternalis proprietas est solum in intelligibilibus, ita conditoria siue factiua solum in deis nouis; paterna simul et conditoria in exemplari intelligibili; conditoria et paterna in opifici.
Latin as in the packet with run-together or artefact spellings normalised: 'conditoriain' to 'conditoria in'; 'conditoriaet' to 'conditoria et'.
English
As the paternal property exists solely among the intelligibles, so the property of founding or making exists solely among the new gods; the paternal and the founding together are in the intelligible exemplar; the founding and the paternal are in the maker.
OCR/print run-ons 'conditoriain' and 'conditoriaet' split as 'conditoria in', 'conditoria et' (farmer1998:16172-16173). 'in opifici' is printed thus (1486 apparatus: 'paterna inopificia', farmer1998:16188), a case-form problem in the print; the sense 'in the maker (opifex)' is taken. Farmer says the punctuation of the early editions is corrupt and that he reconstructed the sense (farmer1998:16204); the rendering follows the Latin as printed in the packet, so the division of clauses is uncertain. Sense checked against farmer1998:16230.
