E3. Casaubon On Dee's Sincerity - Subsections. Casaubon repeatedly distinguishes sincerity from correctness.

Summary

Casaubon repeatedly distinguishes sincerity from correctness. He portrays Dee as learned, pious, humble, and honest, yet terribly deceived. This interpretive distinction became influential: Dee could be respected as a mathematician while condemned as spiritually misled. For historiography, this is one root of the later split between Dee the scientist and Dee the credulous conjurer.
