A True & Faithful Relation And Later Angelic Actions

Index Card

E1. Casaubon's Title Page And Publication Frame - Subsections. Casaubon publishes the material as a "true and faithful relation" but frames it as religious warning.

Summary

Casaubon publishes the material as a "true and faithful relation" but frames it as religious warning. The title foregrounds Dee's fame, spirits, princes, attempted general alteration of states and kingdoms, and original manuscripts. This frame shaped later reception by making the diaries evidence of spirits and delusion rather than simply Dee's research archive.
