The Monad is the Neoplatonic and Pythagorean concept of ultimate unity.

Scholarly Significance

It represents the source from which all reality emanates and returns. John Dee expanded this concept in his Monas Hieroglyphica, claiming it contained the entire mathematical, astronomical, and alchemical blueprint of creation.
