Muḥammad ibn Umayl
Muḥammad ibn Umayl al-Tamīmī (c. 900–960) was a highly influential early Islamic alchemist.
Scholarly Significance
His major work, Kitāb al-mā' al-waraqī wa'l-arḍ al-najmiyya (The Book of the Silvery Water and the Starry Earth), is a cornerstone of symbolic alchemy, interpreting ancient Egyptian monuments as encoded chemical treatises.
