The Owl in Daylight

Tessa B. Dick · Novels

A 110-page scanned document of The Owl in Daylight, the title of Philip K. Dick's unfinished final novel. This version is attributed to Tessa B. Dick, Philip's fifth and last wife, who completed or reconstructed the novel based on Dick's notes and conversations about the project before his death in March 1982. No OCR text layer is present.

Dick was actively planning The Owl in Daylight at the time of his fatal stroke. The novel was to explore themes of music, perception, and the relationship between human consciousness and artistic creation, reportedly involving an alien being who experiences music as humans experience visual art. Several people close to Dick have attempted to reconstruct or complete the novel based on his described plans. Tessa Dick's version represents one of the most significant of these efforts, offering readers a window into what might have been Dick's final artistic statement.
