Philip K. Dick (interviews compiled by Melville House Publishing) · 2015 (interviews spanning 1955–1982) · Interviews

Philip K. Dick: The Last Interview and Other Conversations is a collection of interview transcripts published by Melville House in 2015. The volume assembles interviews spanning nearly three decades of Dick's public life.

The contents include: "Local Kid Makes Good" from the Oakland Tribune (January 10, 1955), capturing Dick at the very beginning of his career; "The Acid Truth" by Arthur Byron Cover from Vertex magazine (February 1974), conducted during the pivotal year of Dick's mystical experiences; "Even Paranoids Have Enemies" by Cindy Lee Berryhill, first published in Paul Williams's Only Apparently Real (Arbor House, 1986); "Anticipating the Future" by D. Scott Apel from Philip K. Dick: The Dream Connection (The Permanent Press, 1987); "Killing the Rat" by Charles Platt, originally published in Dream Makers: The Uncommon People Who Write Science Fiction (Berkley Books, 1980); "Blade Runner and Hollywood Temptations" by James Van Hise, expanded from a Star Log magazine interview (February 1982); and "Destruction and Enlightenment: The Last Interview" by Gregg Rickman, first published in Philip K. Dick: The Last Testament (Fragments West / The Valentine Press, 1985).

This collection is particularly valuable for its range, documenting Dick's evolving self-presentation from a young local author to a visionary philosopher grappling with Hollywood, metaphysics, and mortality.
