Dee seeks wisdom; the spirits test and instruct him; Kelley becomes the main scryer; and Dee learns that the work must proceed by obedience, prayer, and sequence. Apparitions are not yet a stable "system." The section's importance lies in its questions: who speaks, by what authority, for what purpose, and under what conditions can Dee trust the communication?
