Robin Hood and the Monk
- Summary
- The finest of the early ballads. Robin quarrels with Little John over a wager, goes alone to Nottingham to hear mass, is betrayed by a monk and captured; John and Much murder the monk and his page and free him by forgery. Ends with Robin acknowledging John as his better. Child 119.
