Almost certainly Thomas Malory of Newbold Revel, Warwickshire: knight, MP, and repeat criminal defendant (charges included ambush, extortion, rape and cattle-raiding), who wrote Le Morte Darthur in prison and finished it in the ninth year of Edward IV, i.e. 1469-70.
